Math 24 is a fast-paced mathematics program which builds strong mental
mathematics and problem-solving skills. The challenge is to create equations
that total 24 by using all numbers on each card and any combination of addition,
subtraction, multiplication or division. Mathematics problems range from
addition and subtraction to integers and algebra readiness.
Math 24 was first introduced to the National School District ten years
ago by community organizations. Each year students compete in their classrooms,
in their schools, and at the district level. The top students are then given
the opportunity to compete at the county level. For the past four years students
in the National School District have taken top honors.
Spring 2002 – The National School District took top honors in the grade
4/5 competition and the grade 6 competition. In the final round of the
county competition three out of the top eight students were from the National
School District. The top two students in grade-level competition were the
trophy winners! All ten members of the District team won medals!
