National School District has a proud history of excellence in science and math education. For over 20 years we have provided high-level teacher training via a series of partnerships with the University of California San Diego, the Birch Aquarium, the U.S. Navy and others to elevate the quality of science and math teaching in the district. Much of this work has been spearheaded by our district Math and Science Coordinator, Bonnie Styles. Under her leadership, the district has been awarded two Golden Bell Awards - one in 1998 for the "Science of Discovery" and another in 2003 for the "Math Collaboration" program. During the past several years, over 50 teachers have completed intensive training to earn special certificates as science and
math specialists.
