Principal's Message

Welcome to the Ira Harbison School webpage. Harbison School serves the National City community, which is located approximately 12 miles north of the U. S. and Mexico border.

This has been another monumental year for Ira Harbison School. Due to the efforts of a dedicated staff that is committed to ensuring an educational experience that promotes success for all of our students, our students have again made excellent academic progress. We were one of 250 schools nationally recognized as a 2006 No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School. We also received the 2007 Title 1 Academic Achieving School Award as well as continuing to enjoy our California Distinguished School status.

Following the 2006 Blue Ribbon School awards ceremony, the United States Department of Education Secretary Margaret Spellings identified nine schools for a site visit and profile in an effort to share information about highly successful schools with schools throughout the nation. By providing information on some of the best schools, the Secretary hopes to encourage other schools to provide the same quality of education 2006 NCLB-Blue Ribbon Schools provide for their students.
