SIMPLEST FORM (Review the divisibility rules to help you with big number)
A fraction is written in SIMPLEST FORM when the only factor of both its numerator and its denominator is 1. How can you figure out the answer? You can use repeated division to write an equation in simplest form. Ex: 24 ÷ 2 = 12 ; 12 ÷ 2 = 6 ; 6 ÷ 2 = 3 40 2 20 20 2 10 10 2 5 You can use the Greatest Common Factor method. 24: 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12 24 ÷ 8 = 3 40: 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 20 40 ÷ 8 = 5 Practice Problems Write each fraction in the SIMPLEST FORM . 1. 8/10 6. 14/20 2. 20/35 7. 16/24 3. 3/8 8. 45/60 4. 36/96 9. 21/105 5. 5/20 10. 6/9 Find the GCF of the numerator and denominator. 1. 6/16 6. 28/32 2. 28/32 7. 35/50 3. 12/16 8. 35/56 4. 30/75 9. 63/81 5. 28/63 10. 60/96
