Mrs. Godshalk's Awesome Fourth and Fifth Graders


This year, Room 3 is home to both fourth and fifth grade students. Our activities this year will include using technology to share our learning with each other, our families, and our community. In science, students will analyze systems in nature. Our study at Paradise Creek will continue, but fifth graders will approach their work with fifth grade state standards to guide their investigations and projects. Volunteers will continue to run the Recycling Program here at Kimball, making sure that every classroom, as well as the office, recycles paper, plastics, and aluminum all year. The compost from our compost bin will be used to amend the soil in our native garden at Paradise Creek. These are truly AWESOME students!

In social studies, our fourth graders learn about the history of California. As part of that study, we visit Old Town San Diego State Park. Students take on the identity of Kumeyaay Indians, Spaniards, Mexicans, and Californios as they learn of their contributions to our region. Fifth graders will study the development of our nation up to 1850, including pre-Columbian settlements all the way to the American Revolution, Constitution, and immigration.
