                    Olivewood Owls

                 Student Council

Did you know that even though owls are solitary creatures, a group of owls is called a "parliament?"

Parliament is a group of people who help govern a nation. Parliament is similar to the United States Congress. Countries like Great Britain and Canada have parliaments.
Olivewood's Student Council is like a parliament.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the Olivewood Student Council is to build a positive school spirit and to introduce our students to the workings of student government. While representing Olivewood School, these student leaders will gain responsibility, develop leadership skills, increase pride in our school, and develop an overall awareness of events at the local community and/or global level. Students actively participate in school wide initiatives, lend their hands to community causes, and see democracy in action.

The Olivewood Student Council provides an opportunity for 3rd-6th grade students to learn leadership skills such as team building, presentation skills, and strategic planning. Students are also offered an opportunity to play a role in school decision making.

Our Mission

The mission of the Olivewood Student Council is to provide an opportunity for leadership among the students at our school, empower the students to maintain an active role in school-wide programs, and to encourage the student body to participate in programs that are devoted to the betterment of the school and community.
