For Parents & Students
The National School District recognizes the importance of students maintaining physical health and proper nutrition in order to take advantage of educational opportunities. Student wellness and proper nutrition are related to a student's well-being, growth, development, and readiness to learn. Informative brochures are available at the school offices or the District Office.
Special Dietary Needs
If your child needs a special diet at school, we will be able to help you. Please dowload the form (Medical Statement to Request Special Meals and/or Accommodations) for requesting a special diet at school. Fill out the form with your family doctor and submit it to your child's school office or the Child Nutrition Services Department located at 1500 N Avenue, National City.
How Menus Are Planned
National School District school meals are planned to reflect the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 and student preferences. It is a continuous process that requires the cooperative efforts of students, Child Nutrition Services, and the food industry. Different entree choices are offered at both breakfast and lunch to provide variety for our students and to accommodate different food preferences. Additionally, a variety of fruits and vegetables are offered to help increase our students' interest in eating produce, and to promote healthy eating habits.
