DPAC Meetings

The District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) is a district-level advisory group comprised of parents and school site staff, who consult with the Board of Education and District staff regarding Compensatory Education.  Programs and funds that supplement the regular core instruction are known as Compensatory Education and include Title I Federal funding and Local Control Accountability Formula Supplemental & Concentration funds.

Parents of pupils in the district who participate in the Compensatory Education program elect the DPAC members, and parents constitute the majority of the membership on the committee.  Title I law requires that parents be involved in the development of the Local Education Agency (LEA) Plan and the process of school review and improvement.  Parents should also be a part of the annual review of the District parent involvement policy.  The National School District DPAC reviews and provides input on these documents, and also consults with the District on the Consolidated Application for Categorical Funding.

DPAC meetings are held once a month on Wednesday mornings from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the National City Public Library.  The meetings are open to the public and fall under the open meeting provisions of Education Code 35147.
